Transient

Natalia Kelley | July 2018

Transient — stone against stone
Sediment which water washes down
Flash flood rushes all alone
If no one hears, does it makes a sound?

Red ties and warming waters
All too happy as the eagle cries
Not thinking about sons or daughters
Cornbread smile side freedom fries

I will be watching while you take
The desert dry the waters cold
Every dreadful sun rising to not a flake
Waiting for a story to unfold
Without movement there is death... or so I’m told.
